Jamie York is a Waldorf math instructor, consultant, author, and lecturer. This series is based on his book series, “Making Math Meaningful.” He serves on the faculty at the Center of Anthroposophy as part of their Waldorf High School Teacher Education Program.

On his website jamieyorkpress.com he provides FREE Waldorf Lower School Math Practice and Review Sheets, and Arithmetic Facts Speed Sheets – as well as Sample Main Lesson Book Pages for you to DOWNLOAD. These complement the Making Math Meaningful® Waldorf Math books series for public, private, and home school teachers and parents. At the last meeting, the Board extended gratitude to Kristin Cuneo for her year of service and welcomed Chris Kelly to the Board. The Performance Pay plan was approved. Board agendas are posted at the school website’s calendar; Board minutes are available upon request in the office. Our October board meeting is at 5:30pm, we return to a 4pm start time after October.

Festival of Strength and Courage Friday September 28th

Autumn is approaching. Desert Sky recognizes this time of year, often known as Michaelmas in Waldorf schools, with different activities for Kindergarten and Grades students, and with the opportunity for families to gather.

Kindergarten parent, please come to Kindergarten at noon for potluck and procession! Grades parents, please join us at 1:15pm for a sharing assembly in Deleage Hall, followed by games of challenge outdoors!

Join us for a Weihnachtmarkt Planning meeting on Friday Sept 21 at 3pm to 4pm

Meeting in the Grade 3/4 Classroom. Weihnachtsmarkt is a cultural seasonal fundraising event sponsored by our school with food, music, parent-made crafts, and outside vendors! This German Christmas Market is organized jointly by representatives from Desert Sky’s Parent Council and Marketing Committee. (See Weihnachtsmarkt in Wikipedia for more information about this type of event.)

Do you like to putter in the garden? Join Margo and Shelly Saturday mornings at 8am for Garden Club. We water and plant and drink tea and talk about what to do next! Bring gloves, trowel, something to plant or something to eat….

Lemon tree? Let Margo or Anna know if you’ll have extra lemons! Our Hummingbirds would love to make lemonade.

Water Fairies always needed. Please help keep your students hydrated at school.

Craft Circle

Craft circle has started!!! Please join parents and teachers as we create Waldorf crafts to sell in the school store and at our winter market.

Not feelin’ crafty?? That’s OK! We can teach you all the basics: sewing, felting, dying etc.. Can’t stay for the fun? Bring a kit home to work on with your child and return it when you’re done.

We will be gathering Mondays after school at 3pm and Friday morning after drop off 8:15am.
