Desert Wildflower Preschool: Nurturing Heads, Hands, and Hearts with Love and Care
Launched in 2025, Desert Wildflower is a fee-based private preschool that offers a five day program perfect for your little one.
At Desert Wildflower Preschool, we provide free breakfast and lunch! We also create a safe place to explore and test new physical skills with friends to learn and play with. We further recognize that very young children need to spend time nurturing their heads, hearts, and hands through play and story. In order to do this, we infuse our approach to teaching with creativity and care.
Our preschool day features a morning rich in imagination with a traditional Waldorf-inspired curriculum. It is then followed by a complementary afternoon program.
We take great care to provide a classroom environment that surrounds the child with beauty, a sense of security, and comfort. For this reason, we provide nurturing teachers whose words and actions are worthy of imitation.
In daily, weekly, and seasonal rhythms, children learn about language and nature through an emphasis on memory, sequence, and pattern recognition. In addition to creative circle time with songs and storytime with fairy tales, activities include painting, beeswax modeling, gardening, handwork, and cooperative outdoor play.

“All understandingbegins in wonder.”

Note: Desert Wildflower Preschool is run by the Desert Sky Community School but is not a part of the ASCS K-5 program and has its own enrollment policy and process. See our enrollment page for the enrollment process or contact our enrollment director at communications@desertskycommunityschool.org. The first week of tuition must be paid in full prior to the first day of attendance and on the last day of each week for the following week thereafter.
Program Details:
Desert Wildflower Preschool teachers are trained in early childhood education. This is because we recognize that in the first seven years, children are developing their physical bodies. During this time, it is important to support the work the child is doing to grow. We provide opportunities for children to engage in periods of active, creative play as well as moments of quiet and calm. For example, simple toys made from natural materials help to foster the imagination.
One of our goals at the Desert Wildflower Preschool is to provide a safe bridge between home and school for our families, since young children learn through imitation and their senses. As a result, they are open to the world with no filters to shut out unwanted stimuli. Especially in the first seven years, children need to see the world as a place of harmony and beauty. For this reason, we celebrate the senses and foster a capacity for wonder and reverence.
